Hello friends, continuing from the previous post “Cerita paling gigih”; In this post, I will share again my experience at the intermediate level of the Generasi GIGIH 2021 from YABB (Yayasan Anak Bangsa Bisa). Even though I’m still studying at this level for 2 weeks, I got a lot of new things, knowledge, experience, new insights, and much more.

“How much did I know about the subject before we started?”

Previously I had worked on a front-end project using JavaScript. However, because I immediately jumped into the project without exploring the basics, many basic things were missed. Like promises, async, reduce, etc. Studying for 2 weeks at GIGIH Generation made me unlearn and relearn my knowledge about JavaScript. Such learning stages are very useful for digging further when learning something.

“How do I feel about my work this week?”

During 2 weeks of study, there are many assignments given to review the material given. The assignment given is quite fun for me. There are 2 types of assignments, exercise assignments, and homework assignments.

Exercise assignments are given during the meeting. We were grouped into 4–5 people in the Zoom Meeting’s breakout room. Doing exercise assignments while communicating with other friends allows me to learn from more knowledgeable friends. We can discuss the assigned tasks and give each other feedback. This is also where our soft skills are improved. Chatting and learning along with complete strangers can make us a person who is more prepared to face anything.

Homework assignments are given after the meeting is over. This is where the material provided will be reviewed by participants.

“How can I use this knowledge in future work?”

There is no such thing as “useless” in learning. Everything I learn here I can use to deepen my understanding of the front-end. Such as how to optimally use Git, render components, use REST APIs, and so on.

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”
